The Facility Cleaner is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization on both the production shop floor and in all office areas. This role ensures a safe and efficient work environment by removing waste, keeping walkways clear, sanitizing frequently touched surfaces, and performing general cleaning tasks. The Cleaner may also support assembly workers and production departments as required when cleaning duties are complete. The cleaner provides experience in commercial cleaning and gives their detailed attention to necessary daily and weekly cleaning duties.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Shop Floor & Waste Management_
- Regularly empty shop floor garbage bins and ensure proper waste disposal
- Clean walls, beams, pillars, and other shop floor areas to maintain a professional environment
- Remove old tape, residue, and markings from surfaces
- Dispose of wood pallets, cardboard, plastic, and foam in designated areas
- Keep all production walkways clear and free of obstacles
- Spill & Floor Maintenance_
- Sweep and clean up floor dry after spills are absorbed.
- Use industrial floor sweepers and Zamboni throughout the day when production areas are clear.
- Monitor for leaks or hazardous spills and report them to the appropriate personnel.
- General Facility Cleaning:_
- Works with care and attention to ensure that cleaning tasks are completed in accordance with schedules and checklists provided.
- Provides daily cleaning of washrooms, lunchrooms, and meeting spaces.
- Sanitizes frequently touched surfaces twice daily.
- Mops floors as required.
- Vacuums and dusts in offices and meeting rooms weekly.
- Performs other cleaning and sanitizing tasks as necessary.
- Plans and recommends processes and schedules to ensure high standards of cleanliness and sanitization are maintained.
- Organization & Support_
- Assist in organizing and decluttering production areas.
- Support assembly workers and production departments with specific cleaning requirements
- Maintain a clean and organized work area

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- WHMIS training required (will be provided)
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
- Attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Familiarity with cleaning equipment such as floor sweepers and Zamboni
- Basic understanding of safety procedures related to handling spills and industrial cleaning
- Ability to follow prescribed processes and suggest improvements when appropriate
- Effective communication skills in English

**Working Conditions**:

- Work is performed in both an industrial office facility and shop/yard which can be dusty and noisy and may present a variety of hazards. Work requires standing, kneeling, climbing, and crawling under equipment. Work can be indoors or outdoors, in a wide variety of temperatures and weather conditions
- Workers must provide CSA-approved safety footwear and work clothing appropriate to conditions
- Personal Protective Equipment is provided, and consistent use of appropriate PPE is a requirement of this position
