Southview Group is seeking a skilled Foreperson in Civil Construction to join our team. Utilizing their superior leadership skills, the Foreperson is responsible for coordinating and executing daily operations. The Foreperson will work efficiently and effectively with our team to complete projects on time and on budget. Projects are to be completed in a clean, conservative, and safe way to keep a good reputation with our clients and local residents.
- **Key Responsibility**_
- Supervision (60%)_
- Leadership among the on-site team in the area of daylighting, horizontal directional drilling, conduit splicing, fibre placement, and light civil restorations
- Delegate tasks to Hydrovac operators, labourers, and HDD operators
- Help laborers, hydrovac operators, and drillers when needed onsite
- Understand and explain locates and underground construction plans
- Supervises and provides clear direction to the utility crew on specific work tasks and deliverables
- Provides mentorship and coaching to crew members on industry best practices and company policies
- Ensure damage prevention for existing underground utilities
- Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner
- Ensure project schedules are maintained and strictly adhered to
- Understand locates and validate paperwork and paint onsite
- Health and Safety (15%)_
- Always oversee and help with keeping the sites safe and secure
- Daily Job Safety Analysis (traffic control plans, pre-job safety meetings)
- Participating in job observations, near miss and hazard ID reporting, site inspections, monthly safety meetings, and daily pre-job meetings
- Ensure crew and subcontractors are adhering to site health and safety requirements
- Conduct daily safety meetings/toolbox talks to promote a safe working environment
- Administration (15%)_
- Review construction plans and designs to ensure the accuracy and completeness of construction drawings before the project begins
- Assist the Operations Manager with organizing and coordinating the daily activities of all crew members, sub-contractors, and equipment
- Partnering with other Forepersons, JHSC members, and HR team, ensure Incident or Accident Reports are completed and published when required.
- Assist in managing contracted labour quotes, invoicing, asbuilts, performance, and quality
- Work alongside the project management team to report and communicate construction progress
- Ensure all project-related paperwork is accurately filed
- Relationship Management (10%)_
- Meet with City representatives and clients to ensure projects are meeting standards
- Working with landlords, property managers, and homeowners to discuss any issues or escalations that arise as a result of any construction activities
- Demonstrate a professional working relationship with contractors, clients, and the public
- Meet with infrastructure owners as required for damage prevention
- **Qualifications**_
- A G driver’s license is the minimum requirement needed
- Must have and maintain a clean driver’s abstract
- Must have a minimum of two years work experience in telecommunications
- Previous directional drilling or other related experience preferred
- Previous leadership role within telecommunications required
- Experience in completing field/site paperwork
- Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Adobe
- Able to effectively and professionally communicate with on-site customer representatives
- Strong personal and interpersonal skills
- **Essential Physical Functions**_
- Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty
- Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl
- Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to work in all outdoor elements (rain, snow, heat) for extended periods of time
- Be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
- Must be capable of working extended hours and variable shifts
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$40.00 per hour
