**What you will be doing**:
As a VFD Field Service Technician you will perform all levels of repair and preventative/predictive maintenance on industrial automation equipment in the field across a broad industry base. Diagnosing and troubleshooting problems, understanding mechanical system requirements, set-up and calibration of VFD’s, AC Servos and PLCs are all within your capabilities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Service and repair industrial automation electronic equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), AC Servos, and Soft Starters, Motor Control Centers (MCC) and assemblies.
- Respond to service calls promptly, perform commissioning of VFD, AC Servo and PLC systems at a customer site on a variable shift schedule that as determined by our customer’s needs, and assist operators with operational problems.
- Diagnose, locate circuit, component, equipment faults and assemblies using multimeters, circuit testers, oscilloscopes, logic probes and other electronic test instruments, tools, and equipment.
- Estimate damage and calculate the cost of materials.
- Populate a quote for repair and send to a customer.
- Adjust, replace, or repair electronic equipment, assemblies and components following equipment manuals and schematics, and using soldering tools and other hand and power tools.
- Monitor and update repair process and maintain inventory.
- Actively promote a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining open communications and providing pro-active attention to customer requirements.
- Perform tasks within a high level of skill and patience.
- Produce timely and detail service reports.

**What we need from you**:

- Graduate of Electronics/Electrical Engineering, Technologist or Journeyman Electrical
- Experience working with controls
- Valid Driver’s License
- Project Management experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Industrial Automation
- Knowledge of VFD, Servo and DC Drives
- Thorough knowledge and experience commissioning VFD and DC Drives
- Experience with AC Servos, an asset
- Medium Voltage VFD experience, an asset
- PLC/HMI programming experience an asset
- Rockwell PLC/RSLogix, Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi, and Omron
- Experienced setting up, commissioning and troubleshooting DeviceNet, ControlNet and Ethernet/IP networks
- Instrumentation experience
- Must have effective and professional communication skills, verbal and written, with ability to converse to other technical people and engineers
- Ability to work efficiently and reliably with mínimal supervision (project management)
- Must be able to work throughout Canada and the USA, if required
- Must be able to work the occasional overtime and/or be available for on-call rotation, if required
- Experience working with MS Office, with SharePoint and Access an asset
