**Position Overview**

We are seeking a motivated **Assistant Brewer** to support daily brewing operations in our Calgary brewhouse. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be hands-on with every aspect of the brewing process, from wort production and fermentation management to packaging and quality control. You will work closely with our Head Brewer and production team to ensure our beers consistently meet Meta Brewery’s high standards.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist in brewing operations including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, whirlpooling, and wort cooling.
- Monitor and record fermentation progress, gravity readings, temperature control, and yeast management.
- CIP (clean-in-place) and sanitize tanks, brewhouse equipment, and packaging lines.
- Assist in packaging (kegs, cans, and bottles) and coordinate with the packaging team to meet production schedules.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized brewhouse according to SOPs.
- Support inventory management for raw materials, yeast, and chemicals.
- Participate in sensory panels and contribute to recipe development discussions when needed.
- Follow all safety and quality control procedures, reporting any deviations immediately.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- 1-3 years of experience in a commercial brewery (preferred) or relevant education (brewing school, food science, etc.).
- Strong understanding of brewing processes, sanitation, and fermentation science.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25-30 kg (55-65 lbs) and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Comfortable with handling chemicals and operating pumps, hoses, and brewery equipment.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a passion for quality beer.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional overtime.
