**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**:
Accountable for the implementation and modification of therapeutic recreational programming. Teach, mentor and empower clients to use developed therapeutic treatment interventions when delivering leisure activities or programs.

This position offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, and with on-going professional development opportunities. This hybrid position blends working virtually from home with regular presence in HIRO’s main office in downtown Hamilton and HIRO’s service locations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Leading functional and skill-based programs of therapeutic groups and/or individualized programming needs:

- Organizing, preparing and actively leading skills and recreational designed programs.
- Implement assessment results, rationale and outcome measures for therapeutic programs and activities.
- Develop realistic goals and outcome measures for individualized programs and global programming.
- Identify and analyze appropriate tools to measure goal achievement.
- Develop strategies directed to recreation goal achievement and increased leisure independence and collect data and write summary reports for recreation/leisure therapeutic groups and activities.
- Use cognitive, functional and behavioral compensatory strategies.
- Provide necessary attendant/personal care duties (i.e., as applicable to

individual service) and facilitate increased independence for activities of daily living.
- Implement effective crisis intervention strategies.
- Advocate on behalf of clients.
- Provide education to clients and family members.
- Liaise with clients, family members, project partnering agencies and community partners at large.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
To be considered you will have:

- Post -secondary diploma in recreation/leisure or a disability-related field (brain disorders management, behavioural science, social service worker);
- 1-2 years related experience in a recreation setting; recreation therapy settings preferred;
- This position requires travel to Brantford and Niagara.
- Valid drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.

This position requires a current criminal and judicial matters check.
