**Shelter Support Worker**

**Full-Time Permanent Shelter Support Worker - Friday, Saturday, Sunday (Days) - Monday (Night)**

Rowan House Society provides crisis intervention and preventative education to support individuals affected by domestic violence and abuse. We serve a large geographic area in Southern Alberta, including Foothills County, Vulcan County, and MD of Willow Creek.

Join our team providing critical support to individuals experiencing domestic violence and abuse.

As of September 2025, Rowan House Society is now a Pet-Friendly Shelter meaning that women and children experiencing Domestic Violence and Abuse will now be able to bring their family pet with them into shelter.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide overnight crisis support, safety planning, and case management to shelter clients (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights).
- Answer the 24/7 support line during night shifts, offering crisis intervention and referrals.
- Facilitate support groups and provide education on domestic violence.
- Complete intake procedures and maintain client documentation.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and supportive overnight environment.
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Social Work/Social Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years experience in domestic violence, children's services, homelessness, addictions, or mental health.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and domestic violence issues.
- Strong time management, communication, and crisis intervention skills, particularly in overnight situations.
- Understanding of cultural sensitivity and knowledge of Indigenous cultural needs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Availability to work consistent Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday night shifts.

**Required Certificates (Conditions of Employment)**:

- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Registration with an associated professional body (if applicable).
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clear Driver's Abstract and reliable transportation.

**Working Conditions**:

- In-person | High River
- Occasional lifting of boxes or event kits (up to 20 lbs)
- The role may involve periods of sitting at a desk
- Extended periods of computer work may be required.
- Direct or Indirect contact with animals or animal dander ( Cat and Dog)
