I.T. Infrastructure Administrator, Team Lead

Nanaimo Ladysmith Public Schools is seeking an IT Infrastructure Administrator, Team Lead within the Information Technology Department. This position’s wages and responsibilities are under review. Annual compensation will range from $65,000 - $75,000. This is an on-site role located in Nanaimo, BC.

A Summary of Your Role

You will be responsible for planning, installation, configuration, integration, administration, maintenance and security expertise for all district-managed, IT infrastructure systems and services

Provide day to day supervision, coaching and mentorship of the infrastructure team, promoting an exceptional customer centric approach to service delivery, and the implementation, adoption and improvement of ITSM and Project Management processes; provide front-line leadership to all IT staff in matters of IT infrastructure systems and services

Lead projects, provide budget input, plan technology lifecycles, keep up with technology changes and proficiency levels, plan for risk, DR and BCP, recommend and plan for continuous improvement in infrastructure capability, availability and performance

The scope today includes mission critical, enterprise IT Infrastructure systems - on premises as well as xaaS environments, including: Windows server, SAN and Azure storage, VMWare, HPE/Aruba networking and Palo Alto firewalls, Exchange hybrid messaging, MS 365, Teams and Google Workspace, SQL database, development environments, AD and AAD and MS System Centre

Your Qualifications, Education and Experience include

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline

10 years of recent and relevant IT experience in the following areas:
Minimum of 2 years experience supervision or leading IT Infrastructure or operations teams

Minimum of 3 years experience with design, implementation, administration and Tier 3 support including experience with mission critical, enterprise IT Infrastructure systems - on premises as well as xaaS environments, including: server, storage and virtualization technologies, networking and firewalls, messaging and telephony, database and development environments

Experience with ITSM, networking, security and infrastructure operations

Experience with planning and implementing BCP and DR

Training and certification in Project Management, ITSM, security and relevant vendor platforms is preferred

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Strong research, analytical and problem-solving abilities, superior communication skills, the ability to influence, motivate and build consensus

Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding portfolio, maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgement

Ability to meet the physical demands of the role

Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License
