**Position Overview**

The Physician Locum Services (PLS) a physician retention initiative of the Alberta Medical Association (AMA), Alberta Health (AH) and the Rural Health Professions Action Plan (RhPAP), administered by the AMA. PLS is dedicated to providing replacement locum-physician services in rural Alberta for family physicians and regional centers for specialists. The program is designed to be responsive to physicians taking leave for balanced lifestyle.

The Coordinator, PLS Billing and Training is responsible for managing the review and submission of billings to Alberta Health for physicians participating in the Physician Locum Program. This Coordinator will also educate out‑of‑province locums and clinical staff on the AH billing protocols and the Schedule of Medical Benefits.

In this role, you will be responsible for but not limited to the below.
- Reviewing submissions provided by locums ensuring claims are accurate and in accordance with the Schedule of Medical Benefits rules and regulations.
- Entering billing data and submission received by locums to Alberta Health within required deadlines.
- Analyzing rejected claims, gathering information and recommending changes/updates to physicians.
- Reviewing weekly payment report from Alberta Health to ensure services have been paid appropriately, follow up on refused claims and invalid registration numbers.
- Providing technical advice and training related to submissions of claims and SOMBs to physicians and clinical staff.
- As an administrator of the electronic billing program, is responsible for identifying program deficiencies, recommending enhancements and working with the vendor.

**Education and Experience**
- 2 years post-secondary diploma.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a health related field with Alberta Health (AH) claims’ experience, or physician AH billing experience.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including leadership, facilitation, conflict resolution and mediation skills.

- Have a willingness to take direction but also be able to work with mínimal supervision or direction.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Fully able to work effectively in a virtual environment (Zoom, MS Teams).

**How to Apply**

The salary for this role is $64,606 - $83,990 per annum.

Pay: $64,606.00-$83,990.00 per year
