Alongside Called to Action Collaborative, Elders, and Indigenous colleagues, Vancity created a course series aimed at removing barriers for Indigenous people to build wealth and pass learnings down to future generations. MNBC’s Skills Training, Employment, and Post Secondary (STEPS) program will deliver the Wealth Mindset: Indigenous Financial Resilience Workshops in partnerships with Vancity, and is seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our team as a Financial Workshop Facilitator and Coordinator.
Reporting to the Provincial Employer Relations Manager, the primary objectives of the role are to promote, coordinate, and facilitate financial workshops for Indigenous people across BC.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Organize and facilitate a series of skills and confidence-building, virtual and in-person, sessions to support Indigenous peoples' financial needs in a culturally sensitive way, following the Wealth Mindset: Indigenous Financial Resilience curriculum developed by Vancity.
- Offer one-on-one coaching to individuals on making informed decisions about their finances, including savings and expenses.
- Provide one-on-one support to clients who wish to open bank accounts, in collaboration with Vancity staff.
- Create and implement an evaluation process to capture the impact of the workshops on the lives of individuals and families.
- In collaboration with the Communications department, create materials that promote program sessions and workshops.
- Attend virtual and in-person events and meetings to promote the Wealth Mindset: Indigenous Financial Resilience workshop.
- Attend meetings and training sessions with Vancity, as needed.
- Assist with building community engagement with a focus on eliminating barriers to participation in the workshops.
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
**A combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered**
- Education or training in workshop planning, facilitation, Finance, or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic financial planning such as savings and expense management.
- Proven ability in facilitating workshops using trauma-informed, diversity and inclusion practices.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis and Indigenous people in B.C.
- Demonstrated knowledge of adult and youth learning principles.
- Proven ability to organize and plan a variety of events.
- Proven ability to utilize Mailchimp, Eventbrite, Survey Monkey, Canva, and other databases/software.
- Experience working in an office and in a team environment is an asset.
**OTHER COMMENTS**
- Other duties may be assigned as needed to problem-solve the efficient operation of MNBC.
- There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of normal business hours.
- Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a reliable personal vehicle for work purposes.
