**ROLE SUMMARY**

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the buyer will work in tandem with internal departments such as planning, sales and manufacturing to ensure right product is procured at the right time and at the right price. The scope of the buyer will be demand based arising from everyday sales and replenishment planning for a specific category determined by the Manager.

The buyer will spend significant time placing orders, follow-ups, coordinating deliveries as well as strengthening the procurement processes. The role will require detailed data mining with guidance from peers and other team members.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Review internal requisitions from departments and process requisitions.
- Release purchase orders with North American and overseas vendors.
- Regular follow-ups with vendor on status of orders.
- Monitor open orders and expediting delayed orders.
- Responsible in timely communication of order delays and identifying causes of delays.
- Liaison with planning, scheduling and sales teams the status of delayed orders.
- Resolve any vendor related issue like non-conformity, late shipments and damage to product.
- Through the support of peers within the purchasing department, transition the task of replenishment of critical stock with minimums and maximums.
- Ability to make price comparisons between various vendors and make a decision on stock orders for Redwood team.
- Willingness to learn and understand bills of materials, dimensions and mechanical properties of materials.
- Becomes knowledgeable about company purchasing procedures and continually monitors day-to-day activities for compliance. Also recommends changes as appropriate to procurement procedures to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
- Support the process of product sourcing in high-risk categories.
- Develop excellent working relationships with vendors and communicate with clarity.
- Work closely with accounting department to resolve pricing discrepancy in a timely manner.

**SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS**:

- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing industry.
- A diploma/certification in Supply Chain and/or is a graduate in Business Management.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (V-look up, Pivot Tables, data analysis etc.)
- Previous ERP experience would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently and willing to assist others when needed.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Comfortable working in a team environment.
- Detail oriented and data driven.
- Prior experience working in an office environment would be considered an asset.
- Good working attitude with a collaborative approach to work with peers and various internal departments.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
