Plastic Surgeon

The Island Health Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, in Victoria has a position for a plastic surgeon to join a group of nine.

Fellowship training in microvascular reconstruction, breast reconstruction, or complex cancer reconstruction would all be assets. Participation in the on-call rota, the skin cancer central referral line and teaching is a requirement of this position. Ample OR resources are provided in both hospital and non-hospital facilities. There is also access to minor procedure time.

Resources are shared between the Royal Jubilee Hospital, Victoria General Hospital, Saanich Peninsula Hospital and South Island Surgical Centre. Call is shared equally among all division members and is compensated through a MOCAP arrangement. We provide island wide coverage for major burns, craniofacial trauma and pediatric plastic surgical trauma. The Vancouver Island Health Authority services a population of 850,000.

Victoria is a teaching hospital for medical students and early stage royal college residents in various disciplines. Occasional senior plastic surgery residents will join our group.
