**Employment Opportunity**: AHS4+ Early Childhood Educator (One on One) Support Staff **Location**: Halifax, NS **Salary: 26.13** per hour **Employment Term**: November - March 31st, 2025 (40 hours per week) **Reports To**: MCDC Directors **General Description**: The Mi’kmaw Child Development Centre is centrally located in the urban Indigenous community of Halifax and is looking for **One (1) AHS4+ Early Childhood Educator (One on One) Support Staff.** Under the supervision of MCDC Coordinator, the ECE is responsible for one-on-one support for a child/ child attending the Aboriginal Head Start 4+ Program. **Key Responsibilities**: - Assist with the delivery of the AHS 4+ ECD Program - Provide support to Aboriginal Head Start Family Resource Programming - Work one on one with child/ children needing supports - Foster a culturally relevant and positive learning environment - Assist with implementing activities which reflect the needs / interests of the child - Ensure all health, medical and safety needs of the child/ children are documented. - Support children’s social, mental, physical and spiritual strengths and needs. - Build and maintain a positive work relationship with parents - Build and maintain a positive work relationship with staff - Adhere to all Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre/ MCDC policies **Qualifications & Experience;** - Early childhood certification/ diploma or in progress. - First Aid & CPR (Child)/WHIMIS Certificate - Non-Violence Crisis Intervention and Prevention Certificate - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Excellent organization and time management skills. - Ability to build strong positive relationships with parents, children and staff. - Must provide a vulnerable sector check/ child abuse registrar upon hiring - **Indigenous Ancestry Is an asset, please self identify** **Application Deadline: Noon on November 15th, 2024** **Interviews will be on November 18th** **_Disclaimer: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job.
