**Overview**:
The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for all safety programs and initiatives. One of the prime directives in this role is to increase health and safety awareness at all levels in the company. The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator focuses on risk prevention while visiting worksites in addition to working in an office environment.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
LEGISLATION
- Comply with all legislation and policies including the Workers Compensation Act of BC (WCA), OHS Regulations, Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) Guidelines, Motor Vehicle Act of BC, BC Building Code, various Municipal Bylaws, our clients OHS Program and other regulations relevant to traffic control
- Ensure all team members comply with all applicable legislation and policies

COMMUNICATION
- Act as point of contact for health & safety questions or concerns
- Conduct follow-up with injured workers as necessary, including documentation, action items and return to work programs
- Assist Clients with site-specific compliance, orientation and documentation
- Liaise with all related governmental bodies and regulating agencies
- Collaborate with management on recommendations or corrective actions to reduce or eliminate safety hazards

TRAINING
- Educate, train and mentor TCPs on our clients OHS Program
- Assist TCSs with training and orientation as required
- Ensure our Clients and Subcontractors follow our OHS Program by providing training and documents

INSPECTIONS
- Inspect worksites weekly and office quarterly to maintain company standards
- Inspect TCPs Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for compliance and condition
- Analyze traffic control setups to ensure they align with both the site Traffic Management Plan (TMP) and the Traffic Management Manual (TMM)
- Examine lane closure trucks for adequate equipment, pre-trip completions and condition
- Ensure daily hazard assessments (FLRAs) are being completed on every site TCPs are assigned
- Conduct site hazard assessments to identify and evaluate safety concerns
- Execute Emergency Response Drills annually
- Ensure all other safety inspections are conducted on time

INVESTIGATIONS
- Investigate incidents and complete necessary paperwork, corrective actions and post-incident reports
- Investigate all refusals to work and communicate with TCPs and site contacts to discover root cause
- Assign disciplinary measures for health & safety or Code of Conduct breeches in collaboration with Operations and HR

RECORDS & REPORTING
- Report incidents, claims & corrective actions to management, WorkSafeBC and ICBC as required
- Track, record and report incident data and statistics including TRIR, LTIR, SR and claims
- Analyze and identify leading and lagging indicators to assist in incident prevention
- Implement and maintain health and safety records, including investigations, training, meetings and WorkSafeBC claims
- Respond to orders issued by WorkSafeBC inspectors
- Maintain current TCP Certification and all site-specific orientations
- Track employee certification expiry dates including TCP ticket, WHMIS, OFA and coordinate recertifications

MEETINGS
- Chair the Joint Occupational Health & Safety committee
- Attend weekly meetings or as required by Operations

DEVELOPMENT
- Develop, implement and monitor our clients OHS Program including Safe Work Practices (SWP) and Safe Job Procedures in collaboration with Operations as required
- Build and maintain risk assessment utilizing the risk matrix for all potential hazards
- Develop and distribute Health & Safety information to team members
- Create monthly safety quizzes for both field and office teams utilizing OHS Program as a guide
- Audit OHS Program processes and procedures for efficiency, effectiveness and improvements
- Conduct annual JOHSC evaluation, complete internal audits and prepare for external audits
- Prepare and maintain Subcontractor prequalification documents, corrective actions and training materials (guidelines, quick reference guides, presentations)
- Maintain COR certification compliance

OTHER
- Lead the Health & Safety program
- Support Mental Health & Wellness programs and initiatives
- Follow and support our clients Code of Conduct, Corrective Action Progressive Discipline Plan and other HR initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned by Operations

**Accountabilities**:

- Accurate, timely and complete inspections, investigations, records and reporting
- Proactive claim management including Return-to-Work Program
- Maintaining company target and industry incident metrics
- COR certification compliance
- OHS Program & the Code of Conduct
- Response to site emergencies
- Internal and external audit results

**Skills & Qualifications**:

- Minimum 1 year experience plus education in Occupational Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) required
