**Admissions Lead, MPAS Program**:
**Primary Purpose**: Reporting to the MPAS Academic Director, the Admissions Lead will provide specialized leadership in developing and overseeing all aspects of the admissions process for the newly launching Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program. This critical role is instrumental in shaping the inaugural and subsequent cohorts of Physician Assistant students, ensuring that the admissions strategies align with the program’s commitment to excellence, diversity, and social accountability within Saskatchewan’s healthcare landscape. The Admissions Lead will be among the first Physician Assistants employed in Saskatchewan, requiring a demonstrated awareness of the rapidly evolving PA landscape in Canada and the ability to provide a high level of expertise to guide the development of this first-of-its-kind program in the province.
The Admissions Lead will not only manage the operational facets of admissions but will also play a key role in strategic planning, policy development, and the implementation of recruitment initiatives aimed at attracting a diverse and high-caliber student body.
**Nature of Work**: As a senior leader within the MPAS program, the Admissions Lead is responsible for the overall direction, management, and evaluation of the admissions process. The position demands a high degree of autonomy, strategic thinking, and decision-making to develop and implement innovative admissions and recruitment strategies that reflect the evolving needs of the healthcare system. The Academic Director will direct the work of this position, while the MPAS Program Manager will serve as the line manager, approving timesheets and vacation requests. The Admissions Lead will work within tight timelines and shifting priorities, managing the challenges of establishing admissions processes for a new professional program in a competitive and high-demand field.
**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
- **Strategic Admissions Management**:Direct the admissions process, ensuring alignment with program goals, regulatory standards, and selection criteria, and produce annual admissions reports for program self-assessment and improvement.
- **Recruitment and Diversity Initiatives**:Develop and implement recruitment strategies to increase diversity, equity, and access within the student body, collaborating with internal and external partners to enhance program visibility.
- **Policy Development and Compliance**: Ensure that all admissions policies and procedures meet or exceed the standards prescribed by relevant educational and accreditation bodies, including national and provincial regulations. Provide expert guidance on admissions-related policies to the MPAS Academic Director and program committees.
- **Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication**: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including faculty, administrative staff, and university admissions offices, to ensure a seamless admissions process. Represent the MPAS program at local, regional, and national events to promote awareness and understanding of the admissions process and program benefits.
- **Data Management and Reporting**:Oversee admissions data management and reporting, using analytics to inform strategic decisions and prepare detailed reports for university and accreditation bodies.
- **Leadership and Team Development**:Provide leadership and mentorship to admissions staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team environment.
- **Clinical Teaching and Engagement**:
Participating in supplemental clinical teaching, either as a preceptor in clinical settings or through course instruction, fostering hands on skill development building key competencies for learners.
**Education**: A Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies, Medical Education, or a related field, with significant experience in clinical education and program development. Additional qualifications or training in admissions management, diversity recruitment, or higher education administration are highly desirable.
**Licenses**: Current PA Certification with the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (or eligibility to become certified).
**Experience**:
- At least 10 years of clinical practice, preferably with progressive experience in admissions management within a post-secondary or professional program setting.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing recruitment strategies that enhance diversity and equity in student populations.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes and standards in a healthcare education context.
- Experience with data management systems and analytics to inform strategic decision-making.
