Applications are invited for the position of Grounds Operations Lead in the Facilities Management Services department, located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $74,175 to $92,720 for a 35 hour work week.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Facilities Management Services, the Grounds Operations Lead provides support by supervising and coordinating the activities of grounds operations staff to maintain a safe, clean, comfortable, and accommodating learning environment for Niagara College students and staff in accordance with authorities (TSSA, Fire Depts, By-Law, Public Health), laws, and regulations.
**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Provides leadership and direction to Grounds Operations staff and maintains a high level of staff performance to meet the needs of the College community
- Responds and resolves inquiries for service, ensuring client needs are met and their concerns have been addressed
- Reviews all work requests received, assigns to appropriate Grounds Operations staff, contracted services, project leads, etc.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of schedules and adheres to complex preventative and corrective maintenance programs to ensure asset integrity and value of all building systems
- Promotes ongoing employee professional development and continuous learning by actively exploring and identifying growth/development opportunities to support employee upskilling and cross training
- Ensures compliance with the College’s procurement policy to develop tenders and obtain, negotiate, and evaluate quotations/tenders to meet operating budgets
- Procures supplies, materials, PPE, and equipment through various vendors and suppliers
- Monitors costs and productivity to ensure budget requirements as well as department goals, KPIs and metrics are achieved
**Qualifications**:
- Two (2) year diploma in Horticulture, or a related field of study; or Certificate of Qualification (C of Q) in a related discipline
- Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in grounds management and supervision of unionized staff
- Strong knowledge of horticultural best practices, grounds keeping, landscaping, integrated pest management, and applicable codes and regulations
- Team-oriented leader with excellent consultative and team building skills
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
- A valid Ontario driver’s license, class “G” and use of a personal vehicle
