**JOB OVERVIEW**

Reporting to the Director of Primary Care (DOPC), the Receptionist will provide office and administrative support for AHWC’s Primary Care Clinic. Drawing from AHWC’s mission statement and values, and working as a member of a diverse, inter-professional team, this person will be a welcoming, kind, and compassionate front-line person for community members when they visit the Primary Care Clinic to access supports.

This person will be located in the front reception area and is expected to handle a variety of work assignments in a professional and efficient manner, which will include such duties as correspondence, coding of invoices, mail duties, file systems management, support to the DOPC, and reception. The incumbent is expected to carry out assignments following normal office routines and AHWC’s guidelines and to seek direction on matters that are not of a routine nature. The Receptionist might be required to orient other office staff and serve as ‘back up’ coverage for other office support positions.

The Receptionist should demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the histories, traditions, and cultures of Indigenous peoples, inclusive of First Nation, Métis, and Inuit Communities and Nations, including an understanding of the importance of decolonizing healthcare systems and spaces.

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES**
- Ability to communicate respectfully and positively, and present self in an approachable and friendly manner
- Ability to provide a welcoming, safe(r), and supportive atmosphere for all Indigenous - _First Nation, Inuit, and Métis _- and non-Indigenous community members entering AHWC / Primary Care Clinic, including people who identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and persons who live with disabilities; sees to their immediate comfort
- Nurtures a judgement-free, shame-free environment, focused on harm-reduction and the journey of health/healing that the individual has defined for themselves
- Emphasizes culturally sensitive, culturally relevant, person-centered care
- Delivers safe practices in accordance with: AHWC’s program standards, policy and procedural operations, and organizational values; Primary Care Clinic’s program and accreditation standards; Regional Health and Provincial protocols
- Collects and has access to Personal Health Information (PHI) and must follow Manitoba’s and/or the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s instructions respecting security, use, storage and destruction of PHI
- Provides reception function for community members, service providers, and interdisciplinary team
- Captures and/or verifies demographic information as part of the registration process, including asking community members to self-identify
- Arranges staff meetings, as requested
- Attends staff meetings as required
- Prints and distributes daily appointment schedules for providers
- Enters urgency/priority lab results’ status for individuals
- Performs data collection and entry
- Supports monthly and quarterly quality assurance audits, as per Director’s discretion
- Manages mail and deliveries sent or received
- Maintains printers, copiers, supplies, incoming faxes, and scans
- Gives community members hope and encouragement
- Assists in response to emergencies by being familiar with the fire plan, emergency procedures, safety protocols, and location of emergency equipment, etc.
- Responds to emergency codes as per procedures
- Works in collaboration with DOPC and reports operational issues as advised
- Meets with supervisor as required
- Possesses knowledge of social issues such as poverty, homelessness, food insecurity, substance use, mental health/illness, racism, and other challenges faced by Indigenous populations in Winnipeg
- Completes other duties that may be assigned (be a ‘_Helper_’) when required as part of the Primary Care Clinic team, not exceeding stated skills and capabilities

**ESSENTIAL SKILLS**

- Proficiency in the use of computer software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
