Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre is an accredited violence against women agency working to end gender-based violence by providing accessible, compassionate, and best practice modeled programs and services inclusive of shelter, counselling, housing support, and prevention through a support system that inspires hope, creates safety, and fosters resilience. Our services provide a range of options and entry points, helping women gain the right kind of support at the right time in their journey. All services are free, confidential, woman-centered, inclusive, and accepting. All woman-identified individuals are welcome in all our spaces, including cis and transwomen.

**The Role**

We have an exciting opportunity within our Community Services team for a part-time (_18 hours_) Legal Support Worker. The Legal Support Worker will provide family court support information and referrals to individuals who have experienced family violence. Additionally, they will provide safety planning, information, and referrals to clients through the partner contact portion of the Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide information about the family law process
- Provide safety assessment and risk management strategies with each client, review and adapt existing safety plans as necessary
- Debrief and discussion of family court appearances, lawyer appointments, Family Law Information Centre meetings and consultations with duty counsel
- Attend family lawyer’s appointments and court hearings when available
- Follow the Ministry Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program standards, contact clients at prescribed intervals, liaise with program partners as directed
- Provide referrals to relevant services and supports

**Required Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in social work, social services or a related field
- Proven experience in a related field and a willingness to learn
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Foundational legal knowledge to navigate and understand legal aspects of family court is an asset
- Ability to create healthy, effective and ethical relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries
- Valid CPR & First Aid
- Successful completion of a criminal reference check, including a vulnerable section check
- Strong crisis intervention skills
