By joining us, you'll be part of a collaborative and dynamic environment where your skills and ideas will contribute to enhancing safety, driving reliability, and building a resilient future for our community. **Primary Duties** Reporting to the Supervisor of Telecommunications, the successful student will assist the fibre group with enhancing or adapting existing systems and integrating new features or improvements following the system development life cycle. The students will assist the team in provisioning and setting up new customer sites and equipment at their sites. The successful student will monitor alliance for support calls and monitor fibre Support inbox for service-related issues and escalate them to coordinators. The student will also provide support field related work or general maintenance as needed. **Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required** - Full-time student at a recognized post-secondary educational institution, and returning to full-time attendance in the Fall of 2026, preferably in the field of Information Systems or Computer Networking. - A basic understanding of Ethernet, MPLS, layer 2 networking, ACLs, QoS, firewall configurations and VPNs - A basic understanding of networking technologies including switching, routing, IPv4. - A basic understanding of installing fibre optic network components and troubleshooting issues. - Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements - Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Applications (Word & Excel) required. - Superior organization skills. - Ability to perform well independently and as a team player. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to keep sensitive information confidential. - Adaptability in a changing environment. - Ability to manage high volume workloads under time sensitive conditions. - Conscientiousness and attention to detail. **Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment** - Completion of a Criminal Record Check at the employee's own expense, and to the satisfaction of Utilities Kingston. - Valid Class "G" driver's license. - Cisco CCNA considered an asset.
