Baywood Glass, a busy North Nanaimo glass shop, is seeking an Auto Glass Technician to join the team for a full-time position.

The Auto Glass Technician will primarily be responsible for replacing, repairing and installing windows in motor vehicles. The incumbent must be able to analyze, troubleshoot, dismantle, align, assemble and adjust mechanical equipment for glass removal, repair or installation. Work assignments will be received in both oral and written work orders and the individual must determine the nature and extent of the repairs necessary.

**Compensation**
- $24 to $32 per hour, depending on experience.

**Main Duties**
- Install, repair and replace glass and related materials such as windshields, back glass, side glass, quarter glass, and sunroofs
- Obtain glass for windshields and windows for specific automobile makes and models
- Examine glass for defects prior to installation
- Prime all scratches with primer and allow primed scratches to dry completely
- Remove dirt, foreign matter and loose glass from damaged areas
- Remove all moldings, clips, wipers, screws, and bolts from window
- Remove broken or damaged glass windows and windshields from vehicles without damaging the vehicle's paint or moldings
- Replace or adjust motorized or manual window-raising mechanisms
- Use appropriate tools, safety equipment and parts according to specific job requirements
- Cut glass according to specified patterns, or perform precision pattern-making and glass cutting to custom fit replacement windows
- Allow glass parts ample time to set and dry, taking temperature and humidity into consideration
- Check for moisture or contamination in damaged areas; ensure to dry the area out completely prior to making any repairs
- Cool or warm glass in extreme temperatures
- Shape or smooth edges of uneven glass
- Install foam dams
- Install rubber channeling strips around edges of glass or frames in order to weatherproof the windows and prevent rattling
- Install and remove rain sensor systems
- Other duties as assigned

**Requirements**:

- Completion of college/vocational or technical training
- 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Must be familiar and able to work with Auto-Calibration Equipement
- Computer literate

**Salary**: $24.00-$32.00 per hour
