Burnaby, Canada The Poppy Residences Full time

There are two Shifts:
Shift #1: Sunday to Wednesday 10:30AM-7:00PM

Shift #2: Thursday to Saturday 10:30AM-7:00PM

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc
- Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and safety of all kitchen equipment
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food etc
- Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc
- Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out garbage and recycling etc
- Ensure al foods and other items are stored properly
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
- Maintains effective communication with co-workers. Must practice “respectful workplace environment

**Requirements and Skills**:

- Proven experience as a prep cook
- Knowledge of health and safety rules in the kitchen
- Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils
- A team player with good communication skills
- Must be in good health
- Training from a recognized culinary school will be an asset
- Must complete a Criminal Record Check
- Food Safe Level 1
- WHIMIS

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $18.00 per hour
