Associate Vice President of Finance

**JOB SUMMARY**
The AVP will wear many hats and oversee the team management, the accounting team duties, cash management, policy adherence, acquisition financing, loan renewals, budgets, audit and Investor relations. This role will report directly to the Vice President of Finance and manage the Finance & Reporting Manager, the Controller and the high-performing accountants.
**JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide hands-on leadership of the finance function and all accounting operations.
- Responsible for developing and structuring the team.
- Mentor and develop team members.
- Implement and improve accounting procedures and internal controls to increase efficiency in a high transaction environment and allows the accounting function to scale up to accommodate growth.
- Forecasting, budgeting and financial planning
- Using analytical analysis of operating and financial data, work with operations teams and senior management to make business improvements.
- Cash management; weekly cash flow, inter-company transfers and annual cash management.
- Review all month ends and quarterly consolidated financials prior to executive review.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting, implementing efficiencies as needed.
- Maintain Corporate Organization Charts, set up new companies as necessary
- Acquisitions and modelling reviews, make recommendations and provide feedback
- Manage the financial onboarding of new acquisitions, lender selection to mortgage completion.
- Finalize quarterly financial reports for Make Space Capital Investments (MSCap)
- Review and approve distributions for Investor payments.
- Set up and sign off on CRA tax filings
- Follow up with auditors and support team in coordinated audit requirements
- Main point of contact for banking relationships, including loans, mortgages and renewals.
- Manage the approval timelines for re-financing or renewals with banking partners.
- Ensure banking covenants are being adhered to on all agreements.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
**SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS**
- Must have a CPA designation.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with medium to large organizations.
- 3+ years managing an efficient accounting department.
- Team leader who can positively and productively impact strategic and tactical finance initiatives.
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Accounting system migration/integration experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written.
- Must speak English.

**Salary**: $120,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
