**Position Summary**:
The Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is seeking a strategic, service-focused finance leader to join us as Associate Director, Financial Services.
This full-time, regular position is ideal for a results-driven professional who thrives on collaboration, continuous improvement, and building financial capacity across teams. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO), the Associate Director provides leadership in financial planning, budgeting, analysis, reporting, payroll, and treasury functions.
By fostering integrated, consistent financial processes, the Associate Director supports JIBC’s long-term sustainability and helps reduce financial risk across the organization. A strong culture of service, collaboration, and financial literacy is at the heart of this role.
As a senior member of the Finance team, the Associate Director plays a key role in advancing both divisional and institutional priorities, ensuring systems and services align with JIBC’s commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenization.
**Key areas of responsibility include**:
**Financial Planning and Reporting**: Lead the development and oversight of annual and multi-year budgets, financial forecasting, and analysis to ensure compliance with all reporting requirements. Drive the implementation of centralized budgeting and forecasting processes with a focus on exceptional client service, operational effectiveness and efficiency, and risk mitigation. Deliver robust financial modeling and costing tools to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
**Payroll Oversight**: Ensure accurate, consistent, and compliant payroll operations, lead process improvements, and maintain strong alignment with the People and Culture team.
**Treasury and Compliance**: Manage JIBC’s treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and the protection of financial assets. Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and legal and statutory requirements for financial information, and maintain effective internal controls.
**Team Leadership**:Inspire and support a high-performing team of finance and payroll professionals. Promote collaboration, service excellence, and continuous learning.
**Organizational Collaboration**: Partner with leaders across JIBC to build financial knowledge, integrate processes, and reduce duplication. Serve as a trusted advisor and help teams make informed, sustainable decisions.

**Qualifications & Requirements**:
**Education and Certifications**:
Bachelors Degree in business or commerce with focus on finance, accounting, and business management; an MBA would be an asset.
CPA designation is required.
**Experience**:
Minimum 7 years of progressive senior experience with financial planning, management and reporting in large, complex organizations within the public sector, along with minimum of 5 years in a financial leadership capacity.
Experience in the post-secondary education system is considered an asset
Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additionally, specific experience is required in
- Managing and maintaining accounting systems in a computerized and decentralized environment
- Managing the budgeting process for large and complex budgets
- Leading multi-level teams and managing and engaging people in a unionized environment

- Advanced computer skills related to financial analysis, management and reporting, including high level of proficiency in Excel, Microsoft office programs, various financial software packages and databases, ERPs and business intelligence tools.
