Reporting to the Manager, the Indigenous Tour Officer assists in the daily operations of the Legislative Assembly Visitor Tour Program, delivering excellent visitor services and interpretive programming, conducting guided tours, and responding to public inquiries and requests. The incumbent is responsible for the provision of marketing and public relations services on behalf of the Visitor Tour Program and conducts research and special projects focused on Indigenous reconciliation, and other themes as assigned.

Qualifications:
**Essential Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in a relevant field, or an appropriate combination of education, skills and experience appropriate to the position.
- Lived experience with Indigenous culture and traditions.
- Marketing/public relations experience with the ability to prepare materials for correspondence, presentation, and publication.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to operate with tact and diplomacy in a politically sensitive environment, engaging with the public, Members of the Legislative Assembly, guests and staff.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage a high volume of work.
- Strong research, analytical, and writing skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work on a team as well as independently with minimum supervision.
- Experience with social media, web and print design, marketing, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Software and various social media platforms.
- Physically capable of leading groups throughout the Legislative building and grounds

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Knowledge of the roles Indigenous peoples have played in the histories of Manitoba and Canada.
- Knowledge of an Indigenous language.
- Knowledge of the French language.
- Familiarity with the purpose and function of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba.

The Visitor Tour Program seeks an incumbent capable of working a flexible schedule, including days, evenings and weekends in order to support program operations, special events and other initiatives.

**Duties**:

- Delivers high quality interpretive programming, such as guided tours, public events and programs, and visitor information services to facilitate connections between the public and the Legislative Building.
- Researches and develops new interpretive programming for oral delivery, for the web, print, display, and social media, with a particular focus on Indigenous reconciliation, and other projects and themes, as assigned. Examples of special projects may include theme tours and programs, panels, events, podcasting, and/or alternative programming.
- Responsible for outreach and developing relationships with Indigenous organizations and community members; Advises the Visitor Tour Program on current trends in reconciliation, accessibility and equity spaces.
- Working independently, the Indigenous Tour Officer successfully completes projects and other work as assigned, leveraging strong planning, time management, organizational, and social skills.
- Conducts marketing and public relations services on behalf of the program, such as managing social media accounts and audience/user engagement, social media campaigns, marketing events/initiatives and monitors performance and digital trends, to broaden and enrich the programs’ audience.
