- **The Jean Tweed Centre is building capacity to transform the level of support for women with substance use, mental health, and gambling concerns.**_

**Position Purpose**

The Food and Nutrition Team Lead will manage kitchen operations, supervise client kitchen duties, and ensure compliance with health standards. The role also involves meal planning, inventory management, and developing specialized menus to meet the dietary needs of clients. You will contribute to a positive and collaborative environment, fostering a commitment to excellence in food service.

**Responsibilities**

**Service**:

- Maintain Kitchen Sanitation: Keep the kitchen in an orderly and sanitary condition according to Toronto Public Health standards.
- Meal Planning and Preparation: Plan and prepare well-balanced meals based on the National Dietary Standards of Canada. Adapt menus to meet special dietary needs.
- Coordinate Meal Service: Supervise the serving of meals, ensuring food is presented attractively and meets client needs.
- Inventory Management: Track kitchen inventory and ensure a steady supply of necessary items, including milk, bread, and fresh produce.
- Client Kitchen Duties: Supervise and mentor clients performing kitchen-related duties.
- Menu and Documentation: Provide weekly menus, recipes, and required paperwork, including daily meal/snack logs and a three-week menu cycle.
- Childcare Meals: Prepare and provide meals/snacks for the childcare program as needed.
- Evening Snacks: Ensure clients receive evening snacks daily, as per program guidelines.

**Leadership & Team Coordination**:

- Manage Workflow: Coordinate the work of the food service team, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient kitchen operation.
- Staff Training & Guidance: Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to food service staff.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all kitchen operations follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Collaboration with Supervisor: Work closely with the supervisor to discuss job performance, professional development, and team goals.

**Organizational**
- Conduct job responsibilities with a commitment to harm reduction, trauma
- informed, women-centred and anti-oppressive practices.
- Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and work in a manner that is safe, reporting incidents immediately to direct supervisor.
- Adhere to the policies and procedures of The Jean Tweed Centre.
- Perform other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall goals and objectives of The Jean Tweed Centre.
- Maintain a client service orientation including learning about/addressing client needs and concerns.
- Work collaboratively including respect others, sharing information, consulting and celebrating shared successes.
- Demonstrate accountability by holding self responsible and following through on commitments.
- Support inclusion and equity by respecting others, embracing diversity and addressing oppression.

**Qualifications**
- Grade 10 education or equivalent combination of skills and experience satisfactory to the Centre.
- Full valid Driver’s License
- Minimum 2 years experience in the food services industry.
- Sound knowledge of good nutrition and menu planning with specific skills in meal preparation and record keeping.
- Ability to relate to all levels of personnel, clients and visitors.
- Ability to function in an occasionally stressful environment.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to communicate courteously and respectfully to staff and clients.
- Food handler certificate and WHMIS training.
