Skilled Labourer

**SUMMARY**

This position reports to the Operating Lead Hand or Superintendent.

**WORK SETTING**
- Client Site Location;
- Camp provided;
- Shift: 14 on; 14 off

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**

Job responsibilities, but not limited to:

- Understand scope of work
- Basic understanding of grade drawings
- Know how to set up and use laser level
- Capable to running walk behind and trench packer
- Understand and follow the chain of command
- Punctual and diligent
- Know name and use of basic hand tools provided by TJs
- Understand and follow TJs safe work procedures and policies
- Know location of muster points
- Know and capable of using all hand signals
- Know how to follow FLHAs
- Fill out vehicle checklists
- Capable of running 200lb and 1000lb packers
- Report and unsafe issues to the Operating Lead Hand or Superintendent immediately;
- Assist in general labour duties, maintain sidewalks, shovelling, cleaning and maintain areas assigned ;
- Loading and unloading material;
- Possess effective communication skills;
- Possess ability to work under tight deadlines, under pressure and stressful conditions;
- Responsible to ensure that the HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) standards of the company and the clients are met or exceeded;
- Strong safety orientation and diligent in pro-active identification and resolution of hazards and safety issues ;
- Participate in writing of JHAs based on the scope of work and equipment/tools being utilized, HSE Department will assist and ensure that the OH&S requirements are met, equipment inspection and properly completing the required safety documentation;
- Responsible to ensure the HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) standards of the company and the clients are met or exceeded;
- Strong safety orientation and diligent in pro-active identification and resolution of hazards and safety issues;
- Possess good inter-personal skill to work well with fellow technicians;
- Must possess a positive “can do” attitude;
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment;
- Any other tasks as assigned by the Operating Lead hand or Superintendent.

**TECHNICAL SKILLS AND PRIOR EXPERIENCE**
- Minimum of 1 yrs. labourer experience;
- MUST have minimum 1 year experience running loader and skid steer;
- Must be energetic, and willing to learn new skills;
- Good organizational skills (Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently);
- Knowledge of industry specific to construction and forestry including dozers, excavators, articulated dump trucks, skid steers, winch tractors, trailers, loaders, graders, compactors, vibratory compactors, walk behind compactors, and other heavy equipment;
- Quick learner, with good attention to detail;
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines;
- Adaptable and flexible;
- Team-player; willing and able to assist others and deal with staff, colleagues, and external stakeholders in a pleasant manner.

**EDUCATION**
- High school Diploma is preferred;
- To be qualified, all applicants must have 1+ plus years of experience.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Valid class 5 driver’s license must be 21 years of age to drive a company truck. A clean drivers abstract (obtained within one week prior to the hiring date) at the cost of the applicant;
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis;

- WHIMIS
- Current 8 panel drug and alcohol test completed one week prior to the hiring date at the cost of the applicant.

**Salary**: From $28.00 per hour
