(Full Time - 35 Hours/Week)

John Howard Society of Waterloo-Wellington (JHSWW) is looking for a new team member to join our Employment Services team. We offer an excellent work environment and competitive company benefits. Compensation Package: The current starting Annual Salary is $ 47900 ($26.32/hr); Vacation: 4 weeks/year; Competitive Group Benefits. Other Benefits include Pension (after 2 years); Employee Recognition Program & Staff Awards Program
**Responsibilities**:
- Complete a comprehensive intake assessment, identifying any barriers to employment and develop an individualized action plan
- Complete service orientations with clients referred for job development and create a comprehensive job development plan
- Provide ongoing individual counseling and support related to employment, training and education
- Negotiate training agreements with eligible employers; develop and monitor training plans with employers
- Ensure clients are aware of and accessing all Ministry funded training supports applicable to their needs
- Refer clients to appropriate community services when additional supports are required
- Develop and facilitate employment and training related workshops as required
- Conduct community outreach to community services, schools and potential clients to market the agency and employment programs
- Accurately input information into internal tracking systems in a timely manner
- Work toward achieving service targets and ensure statistics are reliable, valid and reported on to the Program Manager and Sr. Coordinator, or to the funder as otherwise indicated, in advance of deadlines
- Assist the Program Manager and Sr. Coordinator in identifying improvements and problem-solving
- Implement program evaluation methods & data collection tools to meet funder and Agency expectations
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed; attend team meetings; and perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and Sr. Coordinator
The following are essential knowledge, skills, abilities and requirements for this position:
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the social, health sciences or career development field with one to three years’ direct experience in employment counselling **Current clearance from a criminal records check. Must be able to meet criminal and other offense screening requirements necessary for the agency to maintain its service/funding contracts Member in good standing of a college/regulatory body or eligibility for registration preferred**
- Strong leadership and assessment skills along with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to design and adapt curriculum relevant to the needs of job seekers
- Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of individual and group-based workshops
- In depth knowledge of employers, employment issues, training and labour market trends specific to Cambridge and North Dumfries
- Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to be decisive in crisis situations, and familiarity with de-escalation techniques An understanding of program performance metrics and data collection tools and the importance of valid and reliable data Strong motivational interviewing/intake skills; cross-cultural and diversity perspective and awareness
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- An understanding of the legal duty to report under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and other relevant legislation Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office®, CaMS ® and internet search tools.
