The Embroidery Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining embroidery machines to create precise, high-quality embroidered patterns on fabrics, garments, or other materials. This role requires attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure efficient production and adherence to design specifications.

Key Responsibilities
- Machine Setup and Operation:

- Set up embroidery machines by loading threads, needles, bobbins, and backing materials according to design specifications.
- Input or select digital embroidery designs into the machine’s software or control panel.
- Adjust machine settings (e.g., stitch type, speed, tension) to achieve desired results.
- Production:

- Operate single
- or multi-head embroidery machines to produce designs on items such as apparel, hats, bags, or patches.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure consistent quality and detect issues like thread breaks or misalignment.
- Hoop and position fabrics or garments accurately to align with design placement.
- Quality Control:

- Inspect finished products for accuracy, consistency, and quality, ensuring designs meet client or company standards.
- Identify and correct defects, such as loose stitches, puckering, or misaligned patterns.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

- Perform routine maintenance on embroidery machines, including cleaning, oiling, and replacing needles or parts as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor machine malfunctions or errors to minimize downtime.
- Report major equipment issues to supervisors or maintenance technicians.
- Inventory and Supplies:

- Maintain adequate supplies of threads, needles, stabilizers, and other materials.
- Track and report inventory usage to ensure timely reordering.
- Safety and Compliance:

- Follow workplace safety protocols and ensure proper handling of equipment and materials.
- Adhere to production schedules, quality standards, and company policies.
- Documentation:

- Record production output, machine settings, and any issues encountered during shifts.
- Communicate with supervisors or designers about design specifications or production challenges.

Qualifications and Skills
- Education and Experience:

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience operating embroidery machines or similar equipment is a plus but not always required (training may be provided).
- Technical Skills:

- Familiarity with embroidery machine operation, including brands like Tajima, Brother, or SWF (preferred but not mandatory).
- Basic computer skills to operate machine software or design programs.
- Ability to read and interpret design files and production instructions.
- Soft Skills:

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machine or design issues.
- Physical Requirements:

- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capable of lifting and moving materials (e.g., fabric rolls, garment boxes) up to 50 lbs. pounds (varies).
- Preferred but Not Required:

- Knowledge of embroidery techniques, fabrics, and stabilizers.
- Experience with design software (e.g., Wilcom, Hatch, or Pulse).

Work Environment
- Work is typically performed in a production or manufacturing setting, which may involve exposure to noise from machinery.
- May require standing for long periods and working with small, detailed components.
- Shift work, including evenings or weekends, may be required depending on production demands.
