Morguard is looking for a Analyst, Sustainability to join our team at the Ottawa Regional Office.
This position will support the Regional Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety, and Security, and work directly with the Property Management teams on sustainability data analytics, initiatives, performance reporting, program implementation, special projects, building certifications & awards, etc. Some of the duties will include the following:
**Duties**:
- Manage sustainability data analytics for the Ottawa building portfolio and support all Property Management teams in identifying areas for improvement and assist in developing action plans to achieve results.
- Support with corporate sustainability data integration and automation efforts and assist with the maintenance of the sustainability data management system and reporting platform, to ensure data accuracy and integrity where applicable.
- Participate in the building decarbonization planning, supporting both regional and company-wide initiatives and action plans.
- Support the Property Management teams with any sustainability data requests on properties as needed.
- Ensure externally hosted databases (ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, Blackstone Energy Services, BOMA BEST, etc.) are updated with all required information, e.g., property details, utilities data, tenant information, etc.
- Contribute to the delivery of all investor reporting initiatives including Quarterly Reports and Business Plans.
- Assist in the development of tenant and stakeholder sustainability engagement activities as required.
- Participate in relationship building with Operations teams, tenants, and other key stakeholders on sustainability and energy management programs.
- Assist in the completion of submissions for green building, wellness, and other applicable ESG certifications, and award programs, as needed.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Degree or diploma in Sustainability Management or related field, and/or equivalent property management | commercial real estate experience.
- Experience working on sustainability initiatives in property management | commercial real estate industry preferred but not required.
- An understanding green building best practices, e.g., operational energy, water, carbon, and waste data tracking/analysis, and tenant and stakeholder engagement, etc.
- Knowledge and understanding of BOMA BEST Sustainable and Smart certification programs, BOMA TOBY and BOMA 360 building award and certification programs, Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification, Fitwel and WELL Certification programs, and other ESG building certification and awards programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of various ESG reporting & regulatory compliance standards.
- Demonstrates thoroughness and strong attention to detail.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong critical thinking skills and solution-provider.
- Projects a positive, enthusiastic attitude and commitment to excellent client service.
- Ability to work independently and take personal responsibility for work, but to also work collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task, spearheading more than one project.
