**Junior Estimator/Administrator - Landscape Construction**
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain safety as number one priority in all daily activities;
- Conduct all business in a professional and timely fashion, ensuring Geoscape’s Core Values are being represented to the highest standards;
- The Junior Estimator/Administrator will support the success of Geoscape's projects by focusing primarily on preparing accurate and competitive estimates for prospective projects (75%) while handling administrative tasks to assist the project coordination team (25%). This role is office-based and is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized individual with a passion for construction and landscaping.
Estimating (50%)
- Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and measurements from construction drawings and specifications.
- Cost Estimation: Assist in preparing cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment based on project requirements.
- Bid Preparation: Compile bid packages and tender submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Vendor Relationships: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and maintain updated pricing databases.
- Market Analysis: Research and analyze current market trends to improve estimating accuracy and competitiveness.
- Software Use: Utilize estimating software and tools (e.g., Contract Complete) to create and manage cost estimates.
Administration (50%)
- Documentation: Prepare, organize, and manage project-related documents, including RFIs, submittals, shop drawings and change orders.
- Scheduling Support: Assist in tracking project deadlines and updating schedules in collaboration with project managers.
- Communication: Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and clients to support project execution and maintain smooth workflows.
- Reporting: Generate regular reports for estimating progress, bid outcomes, and project status.
- General Administrative Support: Provide support to the project managers as needed, including maintaining accurate records, locates, and filing systems.
**Qualifications**:
- Education: Diploma or degree in construction management, estimating, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience in estimating or a related role (internship experience considered).
- Experience in the landscaping or construction industry is an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Contract Complete, MS Excel, or similar tools).
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Enjoys working with numbers.
