We are looking for a **Clinical Educator, Obstetrics & Peadiatrics** to work with our **Interprofessional Practice**Department to help us continue in our mission to serve our community with Kindness, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork.

**Position Responsibilities**:

- The successful applicant will perform the duties expected of a Clinical Educator, Obstetrics & Peadiatrics within Interprofessional Practice Department

The Clinical Nurse Educator leads and supports quality care outcomes through educational program planning, collaboration with members of the interprofessional team, to enhance knowledge, skills, and professionalism of clinical staff. The primary role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to facilitate a learning environment where evidence-based knowledge is translated via education to optimize the patient’s outcomes and experiences.
- Act as a mentor in clinical decision making.
- Lead and facilitate clinical questioning, decision making, and critical thinking among staff.
- Role model positive attitudes and good work values.
- Facilitate staff participation in initiatives which promote the profession.
- Encourage, promote, and facilitate continuous learning to constantly improve clinical practice.
- Create an environment that encourages professional development while incorporating a novice to expert approach.
- Promote maintenance of confidentiality.
- Support ongoing development of professional and educational institution skills through reflective practice
- Liaise with external professional organizations as necessary
- Promote a positive environment for learning and professional development.
- Provide education opportunities on clinical practice and skills for staff.
- Act as an education consultant for clinical staff.
- Address unit specific education issues and provide educational needs assessment and analysis.
- Incorporate adult learning principles in the planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of educational programs using multiple methodologies.
- Research and prepare education materials using a variety of different media.
- Facilitate learning transfer to the practice setting.
- Act as a mentor and facilitate staff involvement in unit presentations, research projects, etc.
- Provide leadership in facilitating clinical practice changes at the unit, hospital, and corporate level, in collaboration with members of the interprofessional team.
- Liaise with community agencies regarding clinical practices.
- Consult with clinical staff and interprofessional teams on complex education or patient care needs.
- Consult with managers/directors regarding practice issues and education needs of clinical staff.
- Consult and participate on a variety of interprofessional hospital committees.
- Consult and participate in corporate initiatives.

**Education**:

- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required
- Master’s degree in nursing from a recognized university required
- Post degree education in obstetrics and pediatrics required
- Certification in Perinatal nursing required
- Current BCLS certification required
- ACLS and PALS certification required
- NRP and instructor required
- Fetal health surveillance instructor certification required
- Current BFI breast feeding course required
- Coronary care Level 1 or equivalent required
- Preparation in Adult Education/Teaching and Training Adults preferred
- Successful completion of a recognized leadership certificate or equivalent an asset

**Experience**:

- Minimum of 5 years recent clinical practice experience in the obstetrical and pediatric settings required
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience as clinical educator in an acute care setting preferred
- Minimum of 2 years Team Leader/Resource nurse/ Charge nurse experience required
- Current or recent experience related to mentorship or education of novice staff in obstetrics and pediatrics required

**Competencies**:

- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

**Hiring Salary Range**:$54.08-$61.60
