We are looking for a **Private Utility Locator** to join our growing team. In this role, your key responsibilities encompass a range of critical tasks aimed at ensuring the safety and accuracy of locating underground utilities.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:

- Mark and document public and private utilities and excavation areas accurately and according to company and client specifications on the ground’s surface using colour-code flags, paint, or other standardized markings. Ensure that the markings are clear and comply with industry standards to guide construction or excavation activities.
- Determine the depth, alignment, and type of utilities, including water, sewer, gas, electric, telecommunications, and others, using various tools and equipment.
- Use various tools and equipment, such as electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar, and utility maps to accurately identify the location of underground utilities.
- Trace underground utilities on engineering drawings.
- Complete Utility Locate Report sheets and other paperwork, as required.
- Keep accurate notes and prepare various reports and documentation verifying marked utilities.
- Review data regarding excavation locations, construction prints and plans.
- Participate in project meetings and health and safety inspections.
- Maintain flexibility and adaptability to scheduling changes and occasional overtime or evening work.
- Travel between worksites within Ontario, as required.
- Consistently maintain professionalism while working with colleagues and clients.
- Conduct project administration tasks, including timesheet generation.
- Uphold a safe work environment by strictly adhering to safety policies and work procedures.
- Participate in training, as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**ROLE REQUIREMENTS / ABILITIES**

**Experience / Education**
- 3 years’ experience in a similar role with experience with private locates.
- Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORCGA) certificate is an asset.

**Skills & Abilities**
- Comfortable working in the field year-round in all weather conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated with ability to plan and execute tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret GIS Maps, engineering drawings, construction prints and plans.
- Ability to complete hand drawn reports with provided paperwork.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized.
- Proficient in use of Adobe Acrobat.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures/legislation per Ministry of Labour and Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- A commitment to health and safety excellence.
- Be willing to obtain and wear CSA approved steel toe safety boots.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods and carry up to 35 lbs.
- Willingness to work overtime work, as required.
- Must have a valid Class “G” driver’s license and a clean driving record, and be willing to travel throughout Ontario.
- Able to legally work in Canada
