- **The start date will follow the selection process.**- ** Characteristic Duties**: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor II Distribution and Collection.
- 1. Prepare and maintain daily reports of completed work and records of significant events as directed.
2. Report variations from plans or specifications and advise of any infractions to Foreperson.
3. Receive, document, and close out locate requests.
4. Read and interpret utility maps/blueprints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
5. Daily contact with utility managers, crews, homeowners, and contractors to discuss locate requests and determine routing.
6. Interpret job order ticket and related CMMS work orders.
7. Plan travel routes.
8. Operate testing and various electronic detection equipment to accurately locate underground utilities; identify and mark the location of underground utilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
9. Perform light excavation with a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary.
10. Receive and respond to locate requests in accordance with established service standards for response time requirements.
11. Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of CGS’s Safety Manual and the applicable Provincial Legislation listed therein.
12. Perform other related duties as required.
- **Qualifications**:
- Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
- One (1) year of related or experience, including working with construction drawings.
- Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner.
- Self-motivated; ability to prioritize and organize work assignments with little direction.
- Strong desire to learn new technologies.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Develop and maintain general knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., damage prevention) and guidelines.
- Develop and maintain general knowledge of utility construction patterns and layout.
- Must be able to perform work in environments that include different types of terrain (grass, gravel, ditches, etc.,) in and around construction zones, residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas.
- Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
- Satisfactory health, attendance, and former employment history.
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves reaching overhead above the shoulders and horizontally; sitting, standing or walking for extended periods of time; bending at the waist; hearing and speaking to exchange information; carrying 3-5 lb. electronic locating equipment for extended periods of time.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check, at own cost.
- Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable driving record.** How To Apply**:
