Grant and Content Writer

**Location**: The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland
**Employment Type**: Onsite, fulltime (37.5 hours/week)

**Position Overview**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Grant writing**
- Take direction from the Fund Development Specialist to compose and edit compelling grant proposals for government, foundation, and corporate funding.
- Work closely with leaders across the organization to understand funding needs and how the related projects and initiatives align with organizational priorities.

**Storytelling**
- Conduct interviews and research to create feature and news articles that engage audiences and share important stories about The Confluence and the people who help make it great.
- Compose news releases to attract positive media attention about The Confluence.
- Stay informed about news and events at The Confluence and bring ideas for storytelling opportunities to weekly editorial meetings.
- Collect and compose stories about The Confluence to include in reports.

**Leadership support**
- Prepare speaking notes and presentations for events and meetings.
- Prepare briefs and key messages to keep leadership, staff and other interested parties informed, and prepared to speak on behalf of The Confluence.

**Communications and Marketing**
- Capture and further develop the Confluence brand voice in marketing materials.
- Prepare written content for print and digital marketing and communication materials (brochures, web copy, etc.) for local and tourist audiences.
- Contribute to the execution of communications and marketing plans.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, journalism, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional writing experience, including grant writing and content writing for various print and digital platforms.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to synthesize complex information and ideas into clear and compelling content.
- Excellent interviewing skills, with the ability to quickly connect with people and make them feel at ease.
- Experience writing about topics relating to truth and reconciliation is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects.
- Experience working with historical, cultural, and/or non-profit organizations is an asset.

This place remains significant to Indigenous peoples today, and The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland is a destination for locals to find a sense of identity and connection to the land they live on, and for tourists to learn the stories and cultures of this special place.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
