**Position Information**:

The Assistant is accountable for providing assistance to the professional staff by performing designated aspects of client assessment and care, as well as perform departmental housekeeping functions. The Assistant must be able to carry through with client care instructions and be cognizant of the client’s reactions to treatment, thus demonstrating independent action to modify/discontinue treatment where appropriate. Excellent communications skills and charting skills must be present to ensure the therapist and other members of the care team are informed of the client’s progress, complaints and concerns at all times. The Assistant must also participate in the department’s continuous quality improvement program, contributing to the department’s development and growth in the service excellence and ensure service excellence components are applied during all daily functions.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Diploma from a recognized Physiotherapy Assistant or Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant or Rehab Assistant College Program
- Acted as a member of an interdisciplinary team involved in the rehabilitation of clients with musculoskeletal injuries
- Possesses ability to motivate, be sympathetic yet positive and client centered in all interactions with clients
- Have a thorough understanding of confidentiality and client dignity
- Must be able to multi-task and remain efficient, effective and organized
- Must display initiative, good problem solving, communication and charting skills
- Carry through client care activities in a self-directed manner
- Must be cognizant of the client’s reaction to treatment and inform the Physiotherapist of the client’s complaints and concerns.
- Must have and provide proof of full COVID-19 immunization.
