Responsibilities will include:

- Advising on Sun Life’s capital markets offerings, securities transactions and credit facilities
- Executing on complex, tax-driven corporate reorganizations, including partnering with counsel in various jurisdictions
- Working closely with Human Resources to advise on securities law related aspects of Sun Life’s executive compensation plans
- Advising on corporate and securities law, governance and policy matters, including financial services regulation under the _Insurance Companies Act_ (Canada)
- Managing external counsel on various transactions and projects
- licensed to practice law in Ontario and have 5+ years of relevant corporate/transactional and securities law experience gained at a leading law firm or publicly traded company
- able to engage and influence others with confidence, while building relationships across multiple areas of the business and working as a team player
- a self-starter who is developing strong business acumen and the ability to effectively support simultaneous projects
- proactively engaged to keep up with regulatory developments and changes
- skilled at simplifying complex legal concepts to provide pro-active advice in a clear and concise manner
- able to take a risk-based approach to the prioritization of work
