**MAREX Constructors Ltd**. is an Abbotsford based civil construction firm that is looking to hire a **Civil Superintendent **in the areas of roadworks, earthworks and underground utilities. MAREX Constructors Ltd. is a privately-owned civil construction firm that has been serving the Fraser Valley since 1976.
**Job Summary**:
You will be responsible for supervising the daily activities of a construction site/multiple sites in a safe and productive manner.
This will involve reading & interpreting blueprints, providing layout, coordinating materials & subcontractors and recording daily activities. This role will be tasked with interpreting the drawings, scope of work and any relevant specifications to properly plan, schedule, coordinate and ensure an efficient and productive worksite whilst upholding the highest safety standards. This role will also be responsible for the coordination of daily activities with supervisors, project managers, engineering professionals and clientele.
**Job Duties**:
- Read & interpret blueprints and contract documents
- Co-ordinate daily activities with crews and subcontractors
- Dispatching of crews and/or equipment
- Dissemination of information to crews and other interested parties
- Train, motivate and mentor employees
- Requisition materials and/or supplies in advance
- Monitor and record daily activities and productions
- Effectively seek productive methods of completing tasks
- Ensure quality of work meets contractual specifications
- Work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Provide layout from working drawings
- Perform pre-construction duties and attend meetings with clients, owners, and engineers
- Determine changes to the contract schedule and scope as they may occur and coordinate with the PM to ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Problem solve through coordination with management and engineering professionals
**Job Details**:
- Expected to work a 45-50 hours per week (dependent on demands)
- Work is _generally_ limited to the Fraser Valley (Surrey to Chilliwack) area
- Supervise and manage crew(s) of 2-12 employees
- Pay to be based on commensuration, experience is an asset
- A good benefit package is available
- Valid driver’s license required (company truck provided)
**Job Requirements**:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the civil construction sector and a similar role
- Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and supervisory skills
- Must maintain excellent customer service skills
- Able to lift/carry 25lbs, work out of doors, and to provide hands on effort
- Must be safety orientated
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of GPS use in the field
- Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles
- Have good organizational skills and be disciplined
- Post-secondary education is an asset
