St. Mildred’s-Lightbourn School has an opening for a dynamic and forward thinking Library Technician who demonstrates a genuine appreciation and understanding for how young and adolescent girls learn best. A passion for working with young people, a good sense of humor, strong organizational skills, and a love of learning. The Library Technician is a leader in the field of library science, technology and 21st century teaching and learning.

The Library Technician is a member of the Learning Commons team whose primary role is to support the overall and continual operations and supervision of the Learning Commons and provide assistance to students and staff. Responsibilities include providing instruction in, and access to, information resources; collaborating with faculty to cultivate and support usage of the collection of library, information, and curriculum resources.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Maintain and update the Learning Commons collection by cataloging all new materials and weeding outdated ones
- Manage the overall circulation of all library material, including loans and returns
- Track the arrival of all periodical subscriptions and provide table of contents service
- Supervise students while in the Learning Commons
- Track and report overdue materials; manage patron records
- Maintain physical condition of the Learning Commons resources
- Provide on-going support and assistance to students and staff when locating resources, searching catalogues and accessing electronic resources
- Coordinate parent and student volunteers in the Learning Commons
- Ability to support the school mission, vision and values in all aspects of the Learning Commons experience
- Create a learning environment where students feel safe and welcome, including supervision
- Develop and implement a shared vision, including the library collection (physical and online), the physical space and the Learning Commons programs
- Attend and participate in Junior, Middle, and Senior School meetings, when required
- Support students and teachers on skills related to reading, research, production of materials, and the use of information and resources
- Support student learning experiences where inquiry, curiosity, thinking skills and student agency are valued
- As part of the Learning Commons team, help foster students’ passion for reading through an evolving and diverse collection
