As the Supervisor, Locates and Damage Prevention at Elexicon Energy Incorporated, reporting to the Manager, Program Delivery Group, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and on-time delivery of locates within Elexicon Energy’s service territory. This position involves providing oversight of both internal and external Locator resources, locate volume forecasting, scheduling and regular reporting concerning on-time locate completions, while addressing budget and resource constraints.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Health and Safety
- Responsible for direction and supervision of health and safety policies to ensure staff are working safely.
- Promote safety, participate in safety meetings, inspections, meetings, instructions, and training as required.
- Enforce all applicable safety standards including the Company’s Health and Safety program.
- People and Technical Leadership
- Provide day-to-day leadership by setting team goals, objectives, coaching, and handling human resource and work performance objectives.
- Lead and implement training and development programs to develop a highly skilled and self-sufficient Locates and Damage Prevention team at Elexicon. Maintain competencies through training, coaching, peer learning, and special project assignments to achieve department and corporate objectives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accomplish multiple assignments and deliverables.
- Foster innovation and actively look for new ideas to improve the operation of the unit.
- Support the Manager in decision making through sound critical thinking and has demonstrated experience building and executing strategies.
- Forecasting and Tracking
- Forecast and track the ongoing requests for public and Dedicated locates completion by Locate Service Providers (LSPs) and internal resources to ensure compliant locate performance.
- Forecast and track the ongoing requests for Elexicon Dedicated locates completion by Dedicated Locate Service Providers (DLSPs) to ensure compliant locate performance.
- Forecast and track the ongoing requests for Alternate Locate Agreement (ALA) locates and ensure their compliant implementation.
- Risk Management:

- Proactively identify and manage risks to Elexicon plant through helping ensure accurate locate information to excavators.
- Continuously work to introduce new measures, processes, and practices to reduce the risk of damage to Elexicon plant.
- Investigate and track all dig in events. Provide root cause analysis and work to implement corrective actions with stakeholders.
- Performance Monitoring and Adjustment:

- Continuously monitor actual spending and attainment KPIs, analyze gaps between plan and actual results, identify root causes and risks.
- Fosters creativity and innovation and actively look for new ideas to improve the operation of the group.
- Monitor appliable legislative changes and analyze their impact on Elexicon.
- Responsible for contract management of LSPs, ALAs, DLSPs (both external and internal projects)
- Stakeholder Collaboration:

- Work with and further develop collaborative relationships with excavators, municipalities, LSPs, DLSPs, industry stakeholders including Locate Alliance Consortium (LAC), Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance (ORGCA), Ontario One Call (ON1Call) and others.
- Other duties as assigned.

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite including MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel.
- Experience in working with union-represented employees.
- Thorough knowledge in reading and understanding electrical drawings and GIS data.
- Displays professional ethics and possesses strong leadership skills and a sense of mission with a high priority for safety and results.
