**Supervisor of Wellness, Health & Safety**:
**Temporary Full Time (6-month contract)**

Reporting to the Manager of HR Services, the Supervisor of Wellness, Health & Safety will provide strategic direction, manage the development and administration of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Town’s Health and Safety program, accident prevention, Disability and Attendance Management, Employee Benefits and, Wellness programs in compliance with legislative requirements, collective agreements, emerging trends and best practices. The incumbent leads, coaches and provides guidance and leadership to the Benefits Specialist, Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, the Town’s Wellness Working Committee (approx. 12 staff members) and establishes/monitors performance objectives and goals for programming and service delivery. Provide support and guidance to all levels of management while fostering/promoting positive employee relations.

**Key Duties**
- Provides advice and guidance to the organization (i.e. all levels of management, stakeholders and HR team members) on all Occupational Health and Safety, Town’s Health and Safety policy, accident prevention, Disability (i.e. STD, LTD, WSIB claims) and Attendance Management, Employee Benefits, Employee and Family Assistance (EFAP), and Wellness programs.
- Implements proactive strategies to prevent and resolve employee relation issues pertaining to Health and Safety, Disability Management, Workplace Accommodation, and Return to Work matters as well as recommend corrective actions with respect to non-compliance and non-cooperation.
- Audits, develops, implements and communicates Corporate policies and procedures, in compliance with legislation (i.e. Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, AODA, etc.), collective agreements, emerging trends and best practices.
- Conducts Workplace Safety and Insurance Board investigations, initiating challenges and appeals where appropriate, researching rulings and interpretation and recommending initiatives/programs.
- Leads, Chairs and Manages the Corporate Wellness Working Committee as per the Committee Terms of Reference and corporate mandate, strategic goals and objectives.
- Primary contact for implementation and administration of the EFAP program. Ensures services are provided per the contract in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Represents the corporation at Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeal hearings and Tribunal (WSIAT).
- Works collaboratively with management, internal and external stakeholders on the development and implementation of key projects.
- Recommends and implement continual enhancements to Human Resources processes to drive operational efficiency.

**Qualifications/Skills**
- Completion of a University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources Management, Business/Administration, Psychology or equivalent related field, as well as advanced certification in the field of Disability Management (i.e. CDMP), or a combination of training, education and experience deemed equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ relevant Human Resources experience providing strategic and operational support in a team, preferably in a multi-unionized municipal environment.
- Extensive experience in leading, developing and overseeing Disability Management, Wellness, Health and Safety, and Sick Leave programs.
- Extensive experience and strong ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of employees and stakeholders in various professional positions (i.e. Doctors, Lawyers, Government Officials within the Ministry of Labor, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Health and Safety Associations.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Relationship-building skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation, mediation and facilitation.
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and project teams with diverse representation.
- Strong team building and leadership skills and experience.
- Ability to lead and encourage perseverance and resilience in difficult times.
- Ability to handle highly charged emotional, stressful and sensitive situations in a professional, positive (i.e. win win) and productive manner.
- Valid Class ‘G’ Ontario driver’s licence with a clean driver’s abstract is required to travel to different Town locations.

**What is Offered to Staff**
- Rate of Pay: $56.07 - $70.08 per hour
- Hours of Work: This 6-month contract is a non-union position that works 35 hours per week. The hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m
