Under supervision and direction the Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the proper collection of appropriate specimens for laboratory testing on patients.

The Lab Assistant performs a variety of laboratory tasks, which require learned manual skills rather than technological training.

This position is permanent which may require days, evenings, and one day on a weekend.

The Lab Assistant will assist the physicians in our office to prepare patients for various procedures.

The Lab Assistant will also prepare vaccines for various patients and may assist physicians with administering them.
- Recent experience is preferred, but not required.
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency in blood collection and collection of other body fluids as necessary
- Data entry and Order entry skills in Oscar is not required but preferred.
- OSMT Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant Certificate
- A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Sort and steer specimens, perform ECG’s, paternity, urine, and urine drug collections
- Ensure specimens and supporting documentation are completed as required in SOPs and ready for data entry and transportation to the laboratory, following established protocols for the handling of suitable and unsuitable samples
- Ensure all confidential information is maintained in a secure fashion
- Be knowledgeable in safety practices, and follow safe procedures at all times.
- Demonstrate ability to prioritize work and respond to urgent unpredictable demands within the clinic.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 24 per week

- 8 hour shift

- Brantford, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- MLPAO (preferred)
