**Excavator Operator** (Utility/Sewer and Watermain)**

**Experience Requirements**:

- ** Experience in operating 228-350 sized Excavators.**:

- ** Operate equipment in a safe and professional manner.**:

- ** Experience working for a utility's contractor is an asset.**:

- ** Minimum 5 years experience preferred in the heavy equipment operations in civil construction.**:

- Ability to work with a sewer/watermain crew under the supervision of a foreman.
- Ability to excavate for the installation of mainline sewer/watermain, chambers, manholes, services, backfill, and road reconstruction in traffic closures and around exiting utilities.
- Safety orientated, self-motivated, and work well with others.
- Capacity for manual dexterity with physical strength and stamina.
- Capability to work long hours per day in all weather conditions.
- Strong interpersonal, team participation and communication skills.
- Ensure all equipment and components are in good working condition always, perform inspections.
- Follow company policies and procedures for routine maintenance, perform general housekeeping to ensure units are operating properly. Report any deficiencies to the Supervisor.

**Certification Requirements**:

- ** Valid Class 5 Drivers License (required)**:

- ** Heavy Equipment Operator Certification (not required but considered an asset)**:

- Level 1 First Aid (not required but considered an asset)
- Construction Safety Training, WHMIS 2015, Ground Disturbance (all not required but considered an asset, training provided if necessary)
- Drug and Alcohol screening is required.

**Education**: Completion of high school is required.
