**THE OPPORTUNITY**
- _Policy Development_: Design, implement, and update health and safety policies and procedures in line with legislative requirements and organizational needs.
- _Risk Assessment_: Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments, identifying potential hazards and recommending corrective actions.
- _Physical Demands Analysis_: Develop new PDAs or modify existing PDAs as tasks or processes are introduced and/or revised.
- _Incident Investigation_: Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports, and propose corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- _Training and Education_: Create training materials, organize training sessions, distribute monthly safety talks, participate in new hire orientation and onboarding, monitor training progress. Provide advice and guidance on Health & Safety matters to all employees and management to ensure compliance with all applicable safety legislation and regulations
- _Claims Management_: working with the HR Manager and HR Generalist, coordinate the safe & early return to work program, employee accommodations and the completion of Form 7’s to WSIB.
- _Emergency Preparedness_: Coordinate each facility’s Crisis Management Program, create and maintain emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, fire drills and first aid protocols.
- _Safety Engagement_: Promote the Safety Star program, Coordinate and participate in the JHSC at each location including monthly meetings and inspections, organize onsite boot truck visits, hearing conservation initiatives, Safety Week activities, etc.
- _Safety Equipment_: Specify, audit and maintain all necessary safety equipment and personal protective equipment and make recommendations as needed.
- _Documentation_: Maintain and update Safe Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Lockout Tagout Sheets and SDS Binders, produce reports and statistical information on a monthly basis and as required, document training and incident information in UKG

**THE REQUIREMENTS**
- Proven ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with diverse teams
- Successful completion of an undergraduate degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience within Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment, food processing preferred.
- Strong technical skills including experience with MS Office and data analysis
- Exceptional interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Willingness to travel between Waterloo, Brantford and Arthur locations as necessary
