**JOB SUMMARY**
- The Locates, Laterals and Grants unit delivers programs and services related to municipal water and wastewater infrastructure, including: grant programs, linear rehabilitation and lead pipe replacement programs, backflow prevention monitoring, field locate services and leak detection services.- You are responsible for providing leak detection services (including emergency response, non-emergency response, leak surveys and other planned work), and pinpointing of leak locations.**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of Grade 12- Minimum of 4 years of experience in water distribution or a related field- Experience and training in providing leak detection services and/or locates for a water system is an asset**CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES**
- Must complete all required on-the-job training/certifications (e.g. WHMIS, fall arrest, confined space entry, etc.) within the timeframe determined by the employer.- Must possess and maintain Ontario MOE Class 1 Drinking Water Distribution Operator Certificate or Ontario MOE Class 1 Water Treatment Operator Certificate**KNOWLEDGE**
- Water distribution systems’ infrastructure and operations
- Relevant Section, Unit, Branch, departmental and City policies, standards, specifications, processes and Standard Operating Procedures
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

**WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW**
- Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
