**Lead Audio Visual Technician - Part Time**:
Reporting to the Cultural Program Supervisor, the Lead Audio Visual Technician is accountable for the safe operation and maintenance of the St. Francis Centre’s sound, light and audio-visual equipment during scheduled Town-delivered shows and events, and community rentals requiring sound, light or audio-visual elements as part of their permit; and responding to inquiries/concerns from customers/users. The position also provides audiovisual support for various events/initiatives delivered by other sections of the department and throughout the corporation as required (i.e. sound support for the Ajax Community Awards, mobile stage support for festivals & events, summer concert support at Pat Bayly Square, etc.). In addition, this position is responsible for equipment inventory & replacements, equipment upgrades and maintenance, equipment rentals (if needed), software upgrades, lighting changes, equipment testing, etc.
**Key Duties**:
- Establish and maintain the safe, consistent, and respectful operation of, and technical support for, live and electronic presentation equipment systems, ensuring that all Town-delivered and permit holders’ sound, light and audio-visual requirements have been met.
- Carry out regular inventory checks, equipment & software upgrades, testing, troubleshooting & maintenance of equipment, reporting any malfunctions, deficiencies, damage or loss, and developing replacement lists.
- Carry out equipment adjustments including the repositioning of speakers and lighting, and changing of light bulbs/light gels using a single person hydraulic lift, as per the Town’s needs.
- Recommend additional equipment to add to the facility’s asset list, or replacement equipment due to equipment failure.
- Recommend operational policies and procedures for the use and development of sound, light and audio-visual equipment.
- Participate in special projects/events as required.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to questions/comments/concerns from the general public, user groups, permit holders, Council and staff and/or refer to appropriate staff.
- Meet with Town staff, user groups, permit holders and contracted performers, as required, to review sound, light and audio-visual requirements and customer’s specifications.
- Provide recommendations to both internal and external customers on set-up and use of audio-visual equipment based on their desired requirements.
- Assist staff in providing direction to facility patrons in emergency situations.
**Qualifications/Skills**:
- Completion of an accredited post-secondary program in Audio-Visual Technology, Theatrical Lighting, Sound Design & Production or related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in audio & video recording, sound mixing, theatrical lighting programming or equivalent, or a combination of training, education and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in sound, light and audio visual equipment operation and formal training and/or demonstrated experience in theatre technical production, technical scripting & cues, sound mixing, film projection, staging, light plotting, and/or special effects.
- Demonstrated experience in audio visual equipment testing, trouble shooting, maintenance and upgrades.
- Demonstrated experience working with and operating analog and digital boards (i.e. SoundCraft GB4 and Midas M32 sound boards), ETC Element light board, QLab software, and Panasonic DLP Projector, as well as use of video switchers, projectors and monitors.
- Demonstrated experience in using a single man hydraulic lift and working at heights of approximately 30 feet. Proof of certification required.
- Excellent customer service skills and experience working with diverse communities, groups & organizations (i.e. arts & culture, ethno-cultural, LGBTQ, faith-based groups, youth, older adults, etc.), and with a variety of contracted services including the entertainment industry.
- Excellent written, organizational, interpersonal, supervisory, negotiating, and leadership skills, and thorough working knowledge of marketing and promotional concepts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point, Teams and Sharepoint.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR C Certification.
- Able to provide a clear Criminal Reference check with Vulnerable Sector screening that is current (completed within the last six months), upon hire.
**Nice to Have**:
- Experience in Audio Visual Equipment installation is an asset.
