**Dietary Aide - Part-Time**

**Site**: Etobicoke General Hospital - Patient Food Services Department

**JOB SUMMARY**

Reporting to the supervisor of Patient Food Services, the principal duty of a Dietary Aide is to provide quality dietary service in a healthcare environment. Areas to be covered include customer service, safe food handling techniques, safe working practices, nutrition, communications, food and beverage preparation and service. Tasks include transporting carts, delivery and collection of trays and nourishments, portioning of food and beverage, cleaning and sanitization of equipment and work area.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Valid Food Safety Training and Certification.
- Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Ability to read/understand verbal work orders, instructions, speak and write in English language.
- Minimum one (1) year food services experience, preferably in a health care environment.
- Active Basic Food Safety Certificate (proof required).
- Able to perform moderate physical exertion, visual and/or auditory concentration, manual dexterity between 5 to 10 kilograms / 11-22 pounds.
- Exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, severely adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely. Must be able to work where exposed to infection, blood/human waste, odours, and work interruptions.
- Job requires long periods of standing, extensive walking, frequent bending and twisting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work without direct supervision in a team environment.

Must be authorized wot work in Canada (proof may be required).

COVID-19 vaccination is a condition of employment.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $23.89-$25.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Food Handler Certification (preferred)
