**Description**:
The laboratories of Drs. Mark Brandon and Sylvain Williams at the Douglas Research Centre/McGill University are seeking a technician to aid in experiments studying the neural basis of navigation and memory in mice. The technician's time will be split across the two labs to aid in ongoing projects related to memory in healthy aging and in a mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease using a range of techniques, including in vivo calcium imaging, electrophysiology, optogenetics, and computational modeling. The primary responsibilities will be to support postdoctoral researchers in the collection of high-quality neural and behavioural data from freely moving animals, preparing recording devices (open-source miniscopes, microdrives), ordering/maintaining supplies, and managing large datasets. The techniques used in these experiments represent the cutting edge of systems neuroscience technology and will be highly valuable for anyone looking to pursue a future career in neuroscience and related fields.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Help with in vivo imaging/electrophysiology experiments
- Collect and manage large datasets
- Order and maintain supplies
- Perform stereotaxic surgery for virus injections
- Collect histological and microscopic data

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelors or Masters degree (with some exposure to neuroscience)
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Basic computer skills (any programming experience is a bonus, ideally in Python or MATLAB)
- Comfortable working with live animals, particularly rodents

**Contract**:
1 year with the possibility of extension

**Hours**:
35 hours/week

**Salary**:
45k/yr
