Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Umicore’s materials are at the heart of products we use every day such as rechargeable batteries, tools, paints and tires. Our recycling and refining processes give new life to cobalt and other metals and reduce environmental impacts. To meet the demands of our customers we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

We are currently looking to add to our Accounting Department by hiring a Finance Manager. This is a new role within the organization. We are looking for individuals open to extending their job duties beyond Finance into other areas within the organization such as Supply Chain and Customer Service. You will be a key player in our accounting team. In the Finance Manager position we would require you to do the following:

- Ensure the company’s financial statements are prepared in accordance to Group policy/GAAP/IFRS including regulatory compliance reporting such as income tax, non-resident withholdings, importation, and payroll.
- Liaise and discuss with internal and external auditors concerning contentious accounting issues with a view to the local perspective. Prepare and file all statutory reports.
- Liaise with tax officials to comply with the Canadian Income Tax Act and ensure all returns are prepared and filed timely and accurately..
- Preparation of the annual budgets (operating and capital), operating forecasts, three year operational plan, and three-month rolling forecasts.
- Perform Treasury Management functions including liaising with Group Treasury department for fund investments or borrowings. Define cash flow requirements on a monthly basis to reduce cost and risks associated with unhedged working capital. Purchase forward contracts to mitigate foreign exchange risks.
- Report and value accurate monthly cobalt metal hedge positions.
- Prepare and present financial results to all levels of Umicore Canada.
- Value and report assets for adequate company insurance policy coverage.
- Understand and implement payroll compliance to ensure accurate and timely preparation of bi-weekly payroll for union and salaried employees.

If this interests you, here are a few of the attributes and experience you will need to be successful in this position:

- This position requires a degree in Business/Commerce in addition to an accounting designation.
- The incumbent must be a member in good standing of a recognized accounting association (CA, CPA CGA, CMA).
- This position requires incumbent to be certified as a Payroll Compliance Practitioner.
- Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, including a minimum of one year post-designation in high level finance/accounting role in international company.
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS, Income tax, Goods and Service Tax, Import/Export, and Payroll
- Proven written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Attention to detail
- Proficient computer skills with advanced excel skills
