Planning Forester

Forsite is looking for a **Planning Forester**, to be based in **Edmonton**, who has strong communication and facilitation skills to support our clients in Alberta and across western Canada. The successful applicant will work with Forsite’s senior planners & analysts to deliver strategic, tactical and operational planning projects for our clients. The position requires a minimum of of forest operational planning experience, a post-secondary education with a natural resource management focus, and have or be able to attain professional forester/technician accreditation in Alberta. Demonstrated experience in wildfire risk and fuels management, landscape ecology and planning process facilitation would be considered an asset.

**SCOPE**:
Operating within Forsite’s Resource Management and Technology business area you will work closely with senior planners and forest analysts to provide forestry business knowledge and planning expertise that offers cost effective, innovative, and meaningful solutions to our clients. You should have a demonstrated problem solving ability, strong written and oral communications skills, and an ability to develop realistic plans within complex and challenging stewardship situations.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**:
Time management and project budgets. Supervision of multiple projects.

**MARKETING/SALES**:
Supporting role in the development of bids and proposals. Provide feedback for future opportunities and potential for new products and services.

**FOREST MANAGEMENT**:
Have a background in operational forestry, wildfire risk and fuel management. Be knowledgeable and experienced in tenures and permitting, timber supply, land use planning, wildfire management, forest management planning, forest inventory and GIS.

**ENVIRONMENT**:
Awareness of environmental management systems and ability to help clients achieve their environmental goals through comprehensive planning.

**PROJECT MANAGEMENT**:
**CLIENT LIAISON**:
Support the translation of client concerns/challenges into projects designed to provide a solution. Ensure client expectations are clear and met within projects. Manage client expectations, scope issues, and billings.

**SAFETY**:

**TECHNOLOGY**:
Proven ability in GIS, 3D imagery systems, data analysis & data management, and MS Office suite of tools.

**COMMUNICATION/FACILITATION**:
Provide exceptionally clear written and verbal communications to ensure project inputs are correct and project results lead to informed decision making. Facilitate planning processes and presentations in order to effectively deliver projects.
