Job Posting**:Casual Labour - Public Works - August to November 2025** Location: 57 MacFarlane Street - Parry Sound ON Located amidst the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay and a 2.5-hour drive north of Toronto, the Town of Parry Sound offers an exceptional quality of life. Join our team in the Public Works Department as a Casual Labourer from July until approximately the end of November (weather dependent). The primary purpose of these roles is to provide general labour for municipal works. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 1. Carries out a variety of operational, construction and maintenance services. 2. Grass cutting, garbage pickup, painting light poles, minor repairs to interlock, weeding, odd downtown jobs, graffiti removal. 3. Operates hand tools and grounds maintenance equipment as directed (lawn mowers, downtown sweeper, etc.). 4. Completes daily circle checks and inspection reports for equipment used. 5. Ensures that occupational health and safety practices are strictly observed and adhered to, and that fire prevention practices and regulations are adhered to. 6. Exhibits courtesy, co-operation and a positive, helpful approach in response to enquiries and the investigation of complaints. Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills: 1. Completed high school or post-secondary education. 2. Valid "G" driver's license and provide a record of MTO Drivers Abstract. 3. Good teamwork and cooperation skills. 4. Good communication and public relation skills. 5. Will be required to attend training sessions, including training relative to equipment safety and WHMIS. 6. Previous experience in a Public Works maintenance or similar setting is an asset. previous experience using and maintaining hand tools and lawn care is an asset. Compensation: This position is a Seasonal job, 40 hours per week with a job rate of $20.63 per hour. Should you be entitled to and choose to enroll in the Ontario Municipal Employee Retirement Savings (OMERS) Plan, you will receive an additional 6% in lieu of benefits. Should you not be entitled to or decline to enroll in OMERS, you will receive an additional 12% in lieu of all forms of health and welfare benefits.
