Rebar Fabricators, bend, cut, bundle, and load reinforcing steel bars in accordance with customer orders.
Primary

**Responsibilities**:

- Demonstrate conduct consistent with Nucor Rebar Fabrication's vision and values.
- This is an entry level position. Incumbent may operate any one of the following machines:

- Operate a bender to fabricate reinforcing steel to required dimensions
- Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths.
- Operate an overhead crane to move, assemble, and select material to be fabricated or shipped.
- Setting up and operating threading machines
- Installing and adjusting tooling, such as dies, cutters, chamfering tools, cams, gears and pulleys,
- Monitoring machine operation and adjusting feed mechanisms
- Sharpening die cutters and performing routine maintenance
- Unload trailers and store materials in storage bins.
- Feeding and securing stock manually or with hoists into machine chucks
- Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping.
- Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner.
- Assist other employees in any of the above tasks.

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must have basic math skills to be able to calculate bar measurements
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
- Training: Most operators receive 3 months of on-the-job training
- Skills:

- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read blueprints and job orders
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, tape measure)
- Following site specific Safe Work Practices and Job Procedures
- Safety awareness and use of PPE

Physical and Special Demands
- Standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions Some heavy lifting may be necessary.
- Indoor shop, working conditions can be noisy/dusty/hot/cold, with exposure to hazardous machinery, and chemicals
- Overtime hours may be required to meet operational demands.
- Must be able to work any shift.
- Must become familiar with and adhere to shop safety policies and procedures.
- Must have a form of reliable transportation
